Readathon October 2016

Books read: 8
Pages read: 1413

14:15 [Done]

Well, I didn't quite make it in time, but I've just now finished my 9th book which brings me up to a total of 1413 pages read. I'm pretty chuffed with that. I've read some interesting books over the past 24 hours, I  haven't felt as stressed as some previous times and I've had the time to visit other blogs and keep track of their reading. All in all - success :)
Did you enjoy the readathon?

13:03 [The Final Race]
One hour to go! I've got 114 pages to go of my book and might just make it in time :D

12:02 [Lunch]
Reading has stalled a bit; I have only managed to read some 200 pages in the last 4 hours. I like the book, but wish it wasn't quite so YA-ish. Have had a spot of lunch and will try and see if I can somehow manage to read the final 200 pages in the next 2 hours, so I can finish it before the readathon ends.

07:56 [Good morning]
I'm baaack!
I started reading Sarah J Maas' Throne of Glass last night after turning off my laptop, but didn't get very far (page 20) before I had to sleep. I've had the weirdest dream during the night though and much of it draws on what I read. I'm going to go brush my teeth and have some breakfast all and READ :) Just over 6 hours to go!

00:12 [Eighth book]
I've read my first graphic novel of the readathon - Jellaby: The Lost Monster by Kean Soo which turned out to be rather adorable, but unfortunately also ends on a cliffhanger and it will be a while before the next book is available at the library :/
I might read a few pages in a new book, but no more updates from me tonight. It's time to turn off all electronics and get some sleep.

23:10 [Seventh Book]
I've turned the last page in Victoria Hislop's collection of short stories The Last Dance and other stories which transported me right back to lovely Greece - but also showed me some of the less pleasant sides to life.
I think it's time to move from my couch to my bed now. My back is non to pleased with me for sitting so still today and it will be nice to lie down properly.

20:52 [Sixth Book]
For the first time ever I ventured into new territory this readathon. I just read a non-fiction book! Mind you, it's a short one, but still! The Great Fire of London 1666: The Essential Guide by Adrian Tinniswood. I bought it at the Museum of London when they had their FIRE FIRE FIRE exhibition, seeing as it was 350 years this September. Brilliant stuff. The final 30 pages are a bit dull being extractions from the diaries of John Evelyn and Samuel Pepys, but otherwise it's easily understandable and readable.

19:20 [Fifth Book]
While cooking and eating I started reading a children's' book by Chris Riddell, Ada Goth and the Ghost of a Mouse. He writes some weird little tales and draw some amazing illustrations. I've previously read his books about Ottoline, which are quite similar to this new series.

18:07
It's time to fix some dinner. Need to get away from Goodreads before I reach through the internet and burn the damn site. Happy reading to the rest of you!

17:46 [Fourth Book]
Book 4 turned out to be promising, but also a tad disappointing. Uplink by Danish author Claus Holm. It bears some resemblance to the Justin Timberlake film In Time. I haven't spent all my time reading however, as I've also spent quite a lot of time staring angrily at Goodreads - which keeps timing out when I try to add this book!! So annoying!

16:02 [Third Book]
Andrew Kaufman writes delightfully weird books and The Tiny Wife is no exception. It was also a lovely quick and interesting read :)

15:10 [Second Book]
Second book has been read. Another short story, this one a bit more odd. But good. The Travelling Companion by Ian Rankin.

14:27 [First Book]
I've finished my first book! It's a quick read, just 62 pages, but it's so adorable! Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell about a young girl who gets in line to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens and finds new friends.

13:50 [Opening Meme]
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Wet and cold Denmark
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
The popcorn :D
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I'm 28, I blog 2-3 times a week (book reviews) and I'm a librarian. I have 2 cats.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my 9th(!) readathon and I think I have it pretty much worked out :)

3:23
It's almost time! I've so far spent the day sleeping in, shopping for groceries and essential snacks and entertaining the cats (my kitten fell in the toilet earlier and honest to God I haven't laughed that hard in ages - she's all dry (and clean) now though).
You can follow my reading progress here throughout the 24 hours and of course on twitter and instagram.

  2. Hvad er der med katte og toiletter? Vi havde også en kat som barn, der lavede det nummer :D

Rigtig god readathon. Jeg håber også, at vores to pelstotter kigger forbi sofaen under min læsning :-)

Assassin. EVAR!

  16. Mange tak for denne gang søde Iben! :)
